Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a waitlist if a camp/clinic is full?
If the program you want has reached capacity, you will not be able to proceed with registration. Please email us at admin@absolutesports.ca to join our wait list.
If a spot becomes available, we will email you and make arrangements for online registration. Once we open registration for you by adding an additional spot, it becomes available on our public site so anyone who tries to register, will be able to. In other words, please register quickly so the spot we open for you isn’t taken by someone else. We are not able to add more spots once we have reached maximum program capacity.
What is your refund policy?
We will issue a refund on request if the program has not started/does not start within 24 hours, less a $25.00 administration fee.
If the program has started, a pro-rated refund will be given ONLY when injury or illness would prevent further participation. All requests for refund must be accompanied by supporting documentation. If a refund is issued, a $25.00 administration fee will apply.
We can also provide credit on your TeamSnap account, rather than a refund, to avoid charging the administration fee. This credit can be used for future payment on any camp, clinic or program registrations.
In the event that Absolute Sports needs to cancel a program, we will provide a full refund.
What if I registered for the wrong program?
If you need to transfer your registration from one program to another, please contact us at admin@absolutesports.ca. We are not able to transfer registration on our end, but we will provide you with a credit on your TeamSnap account that you can use to register for the correct program.
If you have already registered for the correct program, we will provide a refund for the original registration.
If my child is new to baseball, will he/she enjoy camp?
We are all about positive energy and fun! Our top-notch instructors are experienced in training campers at their ability level – not their age level – leaving many kids feeling confident in their own improvements. Some of our camps focus on game introduction & basic skill development, while others are skill specific to hitting, throwing, base running, pitching mechanics, catcher, infield and outfield skills.
What are the ratios and camp/clinic sizes?
Ratios vary and are dependent on the age of the campers and the clinic type but the important thing to remember is that we provide a very low player-to-coach ratio. We will not overbook and compromise the integrity of the program or the quality of instruction. Our small group clinics are capped at 8 or 12 players, and development camps are capped at 24.
If my child can’t make a session, can we make it up or will you provide a pro-rated refund?
We do not offer make-up sessions and do not pro-rate registration fees. While the sessions are cumulative, players who miss a day will likely not be “lost” when they return.
What should my child bring to camp/clinic?
We ask that campers bring a baseball glove, hat, water bottle and indoor running shoes (no metal cleats). They should wear comfortable, gym type clothing and layers are recommended. It can be chilly in the dome on colder mornings so we recommend wearing long sleeve shirts or sweatshirts. Campers may also bring a personal helmet and bat if they own them, although we do have a supply for loan (without charge).
Can my child bring in outside food and drink?
No outside food and drink (other than a water bottle) is allowed in the facility. We have a water fountain on site for refills. We also have a concession with an assortment of snacks and drinks for purchase.
How early should we arrive? How late can I pick my child up?
Campers are asked to arrive no more than 10 minutes prior to their scheduled camp/clinic and leave within 10 minutes after their scheduled camp/clinic. We do not offer early drop off or late pickup.
If there is an emergency and the adult responsible for picking up the camper is delayed, we ask that you call us at 403-284-4006 for our Stadium location or 403-453-4459 for our Airport location.
Where do we go when we arrive?
For our Stadium location, please check-in with our staff at the counter inside our baseball dome which is the first red/white dome building located adjacent to Foothills Stadium. We are just north of McMahon Stadium, and can be accessed off their parking lot.
For our Airport location, please enter our facility by using the door under our Absolute Sports sign. Please check-in with our staff at the counter.
Can my child check themselves in and out of camp?
Your camper will need to be checked in at the start of camp and checked out at the end of camp by an authorized adult each day. If your camper intends to walk/bike/CTrain/bus/taxi/Uber from camp, please let our staff know and provide authorization for such transportation.
How does my child keep their belongings safe during the camp/clinic?
We have free lockers available for use. Please bring a small padlock if your camper would like to use one of our day-use lockers.
Who will be running the camp/clinic?
Our staff consist of college and professional caliber coaches who have proven their commitment and ability to effectively instruct youth players. We partner with the University of Calgary Baseball Team for some of our camps as well.
Is there a waiver to fill out for camps/clinics?
When registering online, you will be prompted to read and agree to our Waiver of Liability and Website & Social Media Release.
What if my child needs help with medication while at camp?
If your camper requires special assistance from our staff relating to medication or an EpiPen, please contact us and we will provide you with an authorization form to fill out prior to camp start.
What precautions are taken for allergies? Is your facility nut-free?
When registering online, you will be prompted to list your child’s allergies and/or health conditions so that our staff are made aware.
We are not a guaranteed nut-free facility, but do our best to reduce contamination through regular cleaning.
Are parents allowed to stay during the camp/clinic? Can parents participate?
Parents are welcome to stay to observe, but most parents choose not to. We do not allow parents and visitors to be directly involved with campers.
Can parents take photos or videos during camp?
You are allowed to take still photos of your own child, however photos of other children and the use of video are not permitted in our facility.
Will a child ever be asked to leave camp?
If a child’s behavior is disruptive to the learning of other campers or unsafe, the child may be asked not to return to camp for subsequent camp sessions. No refund will be provided.
Who should I contact if I have questions?
If you have questions about registration or prior to camp, please contact us at admin@absolutesports.ca.
If you need to contact your child’s Lead Instructor or onsite staff during camp, please call the applicable facility during camp hours.
